Updated: By May 20, 2,439 “lions” of Azovstal, the elite forces of Ukraine in Mariupol, have surrendered.
The New York Times, the Washington Post, all the Western mass media is talking about the victory of the Ukrainian army. Zelensky even said that the Azov battalion, “having completed their combat mission in Mariupol, are now being evacuated in order to save lives”.
Time Magazine: “Mariupol’s defenders have fully accomplished all missions assigned by the command,” she said. Officials also planned to keep trying to save the fighters who remained inside. Military experts generally put the number of fighters at the plant at anywhere from a few hundred to 1,000. “The work to bring the guys home continues, and it requires delicacy and time,” Zelenskyy said.
