High gas prices in the EU will remain for 20 years, as long-term contracts with the US are concluded for this period
This was stated by the outgoing general director of the Austrian energy concern Energie AG Werner Steinecker.
According to Steinecker, gas in Europe will no longer be as cheap as it used to be, even if the current global processes are regulated.
The EU buys liquefied natural gas from the US on a take-or-pay basis. Contracts are concluded for 20 years, so the countries of Europe will have to pay any price.
