About the author

Emmet Sweeney

Emmet Sweeney holds a Masters Degree in Early Modern History and has published articles in historical journals including the Society for Interdisciplinary Studies Review. Inspired by the works of Immanuel Velikovsky, Sweeney has dedicated over 35 years to researching flaws in the accepted reconstruction of Egyptian history. His book series, “Ages in Alignment,” presents archaeological, literary, and architectural evidence unearthed through extensive research and travel to locations like Egypt and Greece. Sweeney is a teacher by profession and by avocation, and he offers clear, compelling explanations of his material. He argues that if his findings are correct, all the history textbooks will need to be rewritten.

Whether you are returning to Sweeney’s theories or exploring them for the first time, this book challenges conventional assumptions about ancient history. Sweeney argues that the natural catastrophe ending the Early Bronze/Early Dynastic Age in the Near East and Mediterranean occurred near 1000 BC, far later than traditional Classicists have taught. This cataclysm wasn’t just a geological anomaly—it is etched into the legends of Heracles, Perseus, Deucalion, and Phaethon, as well as the Hebrew Exodus.

Re-evaluating the ancient empires, Sweeney presents evidence that the Hittites were not a forgotten empire of the second millennium BC. Instead, he proposes they were the mighty Lydian Kingdom of the eighth, seventh, and sixth centuries BC, which battled the Medes and challenged the Persian Empire. By correcting the distorted chronology upon which traditional histories of Mycenaean Greece are built, Sweeney reveals how Hittite written records actually contain contemporary references to characters and events from the Trojan War.
